Short Story
Educate an Orphan was inspired by the story of baby Sumayyah, who lost her father in 2012. Touched by her experience, her uncle (now CEO) and fellow Muslim students at Makerere University started supporting orphans in 2017. This initiative grew into Educate an Orphan, officially registered , with a mission to provide education and hope to underprivileged orphans.

Story
Educate an Orphan (EAO)
A PHU-verified cause — nurturing dreams, transforming futures.
Educate an Orphan (EAO) is a non-profit initiative that believes no child should ever be left behind because of circumstance. Founded in 2017, EAO supports underprivileged and vulnerable orphans from economically marginalized backgrounds, helping them access education — from primary level up to their first degree.
With a passionate team of 30 dedicated staff, EAO provides school fees, bursaries, scholastic materials, uniforms, and sanitary pads for girls — ensuring that every child learns with dignity. The program currently sponsors 65 learnersacross schools in Butambala, Mpigi, and Wakiso, including Hidaayah Islamic Primary School, Mitala Maria Centre, Nansana Islamic P/S, and Green Light Islamic Secondary School.
EAO’s unique community-driven model is powered by 3,025 registered members, organized into four groups — Abubakar, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — each coordinated by a dedicated group leader. Members contribute as little as UGX 5,000 per month and a one-time joining fee of UGX 10,000, proving that meaningful impact does not require wealth — only willingness.
Our Mission
To empower vulnerable orphans through quality education and holistic support — equipping them to rise beyond poverty, live purposeful lives, and become the next generation of leaders who lift others.
Our Story & Impact
Beyond providing direct educational support, Educate an Orphan is a movement of generosity and accountability. The organization has become a safe community where compassion meets action, and where transparency drives trust.
Every year, EAO organizes events that bring together its members, philanthropists, and well-wishers to review progress, raise support, and celebrate transformation stories. It’s not just about paying school fees — it’s about restoring hope and rewriting destinies.
